David Warner Surpasses The Record Of Virender Sehwag And Geoff Boycott
Australian opening batsman David Warner broke the former Indian opener Virender Sehwag and former English opener Geoff Boycott‘s records and climbed up to the fifth position in the list of most Test centuries by an opener.
The 33-year-old David Warner is coming out from his horror form in the Ashes 2019. After scoring 154 runs in the previous Test against Pakistan at Brisbane, Warner has now smashed another century on the day one of the ongoing day/night Test against Pakistan at Adelaide.
Since his return to the national squad after completing his one-year suspension period, David Warner has mostly performed in a top way, except the Ashes 2019.
After returning to the home international cricket match, Warner has become unstoppable with the bat. Once again he has proved his dominance in the ongoing home Test series against Pakistan.
On Friday (29th November), Australia and Pakistan have started their second and final Test of this series, which is the day/night pink-ball Test at Adelaide.
After winning the toss, Australia decided to bat first. Though the opener Joe Burns (4) lost his wicket at very early, another opener David Warner and the no.3 batsman Marnus Labuschagne handled the situation very well. At present, they have already set up more than 250 runs partnership for the second wicket and both Warner and Labuschagne have completed their respective centuries.
David Warner scored his 23rd Test century
The left-handed opening batsman David Warner completed his 23rd Test century in 156 balls. He has hit all the Test centuries as an opener. With his latest Test century, Warner has become the fifth most Test centurion as an opening batsman.
After this century, Warner surpassed the Indian opening batsman Virender Sehwag and England opening batsman Geoff Boycott in the most Test centurions list as an opening batsman as both Sehwag and Boycott hit 22 Test centuries as an opener.
Among the Australian openers, only Matthew Hayden (30 centuries) hit more Test centuries than David Warner.
