David Warner, SunRisers Hyderabad skipper admitted that he was a bit nervous when big hitter Nicholas Pooran of Kings XI Punjab was destroying SRH bowling attack single-handedly for his whirlwind innings of 77 runs off just 37 balls. But Kings XI Punjab could only manage 132 in reply to SRH’s 201/6.
Nicholas Pooran scored his maiden 50 in IPL and smashed SRH’s Abdul Samad for 28 runs in an over en route to the fastest 50 of IPL 2020. He scored 58% of KXIP’s runs before being dismissed by Rashid Khan.
David Warner Admitted Being Nervous When Nicholas Pooran Was Hitting The Ball Over The Stands
Nicholas Pooran has scored 196 runs averaging 39.2 in IPL 2020 and 364 runs overall in IPL averaging 33.09. David Warner recalled playing with the West Indian wicket-keeper batsman in Bangladesh Premier League.
“I was a bit nervous while Nicholas was hitting it over the stands. I have always had high prospects. I was fortunate to play in Bangladesh with him. You always think, ‘What can I do?’.” said SRH skipper David Warner.
Nicholas Pooran hit 5 fours and 7 sixes and had a strike rate of 208.11 but the other batsmen failed as nobody apart from skipper KL Rahul and Simran Singh, both of whom scored 11, none of the other could score double-digit runs.
David Warner On Rashid Khan’s Brilliant Spell And Batting With MOM Opener Jonny Bairstow
Rashid Khan came up with yet another brilliant spell and showed critics why he is regarded as one of the world’s best spinners in T20 as he had figures of 3/12 in 4 overs including a maiden over. His economy rate was only 3.
“He’s (Rashid) a world-class bowler, it’s great to have him. He always delivers in pressure situations. What a player. Sad for Bhuvi, but having one of our best death bowlers out of the team gives an opportunity for others,” David Warner said.
David Warner praised Rashid Khan as a world-class bowler who can adapt in pressured situations. Despite feeling sad for injured pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who was ruled out from the remainder of IPL 2020, his absence gave the likes of Khaleel Ahmed and T Natarajan to showcase their talents.
David Warner and Jonny Bairstow again showed the world why they are regarded as one of the most fearsome destructive opening pair as they made their 5th 100 plus opening stand in only 16 innings.
“We love batting with each other. At the moment, I am just rotating strike for him. We enjoy batting with each other. If we apply pressure by coming at them. We have got a tough game against RR, have to start fresh again,” Warner signed off.
David Warner called for his side to start afresh again as SunRisers Hyderabad will next face Rajasthan Royals in Dubai on 11th October. Jonny Bairstow scored 97 off 55 balls with the help of 7 fours and 6 sixes. David Warner too scored 52 off 40 balls with 5 fours and 1 six as the duo put up the 160 run stands for the opening wicket. In the IPL 2020 points table, SRH are now in 3rd spot while KXIP are languishing at the bottom.
