Sourav Ganguly, former Indian cricketer and current BCCI president, has lauded Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) opener Devdutt Padikkal after seeing his outstanding performance against Sunrisers Hyderabad on Monday.

Devdutt Padikkal joined the RCB in 2019 but didn’t get a match during the whole season. But in the 13th edition of the league, he finally made the dream IPL debut against SRH in RCB’s opening match of IPL 2020. The southpaw played some eye-soothing shots and cover drives to give a remarkable start to the team. He amassed 56 off 42 balls, striking eight fours in his knock.

The youngster was calm and composed throughout his knock and didn’t look he was inexperienced to face the like of Rashid Khan, Bhuvneshwar Kumar. His sensation debut led him to earn the praise from fans and cricket pundits. Sourav Ganguly also took the Twitter to heap praise on Devdutt Padikkal’s batting.

The former Indian captain, who was the attacking left-hander himself, said that he enjoyed watching the left-hand batsman Padikkal.

showed that he has a variety of shots in his book. He got three boundaries in an over off left-arm pacer T Natarajan. The left-handed opener brought up his half-century with a slog sweep over the fielder at deep square leg.

His half-century contributed RCB to set 164 runs target against SRH. AB de Villiers also scored the first half-century in this season. Finally, with Yuzvendra Chahal’s masterpiece, RCB defended the total and have started IPL 2020 journey with a positive note.

Virat Kohli-led RCB will play their next match against Kings XI Punjab on 24 September.
