Sunrisers Hyderabad captain David Warner was on the losing side in their opening match of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020. Although they had a hold on the game in the beginning, their middle-order collapse and Mitchell Marsh injury led them to defeat by 10 runs as Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) won the match.

But what turned out to be the highlight of the match was Warner losing his wicket in a strange run-out. In the second over, Jonny Bairstow was batting in full flow and tried to smash Umesh Yadav in front of the wicket.

However, the ball touched Yadav’s fingertips and hit the wicket of non-striker end. David Warner was on the non-striker’s end and was out of the crease. Due to this, he had to eventually leave the field with a wistful smile.

Recalling his run out, Warner said that he couldn’t remember when he was out like in this manner.

“I can’t remember the last time I was out like that,” David Warner said while addressing the press conference.

Talking about the match, Warner said that they need to improve in four areas. He said that Mitchell Marsh’s injury didn’t look good and he is pain. He hopes that the allrounder would be available for the upcoming matches.

There are four things that happened in this game that I have never seen before. A lot of courage for Mitchell (Marsh) to go out there and try. It doesn’t look great for him, can’t put any weight on his leg. Hopefully, it isn’t too bad, it was quite painful for him, so fingers crossed,” he said.

We would work hard for the next game: Warner

Admitting that they would have won the game, David Warner said that Yuzvendra Chahal was the game-changer. The spinner picked three crucial wickets of SRH to bring back RCB in the game. Warner stated that they would fix their mistake and come back strongly for the next match.

“We had the run chase in control and we knew that we had to go after their bowlers in the end. Probably the last over of Chahal was the turning point out there. We have to go back to the drawing board; we obviously can’t fix what happened today but we have to go back and work hard before our next game in Abu Dhabi,” he concluded.

Sunrisers Hydebarab will play their second match against Kolkata Knight Riders on September 26 in Abu Dhabi.
