Sunil Gavaskar the legend of Indian cricket said that MS Dhoni is the best captain that India has in One day Internationals and it is early to write him off. After a loss of the One day International series against Bangladesh, MS Dhoni said that he is willing to quit the captaincy if it helps Indian cricket.
Here, it must be noted that Gavaskar has defended MS Dhoni claiming that he has won the T-20 World Cup in 2007, World Cup in 2011, and Champions Trophy in 2013, taking India to semi finals of World Cup 2015, reaching the finals of World Cup T-20 in 2014, winning two IPL and Champions a league title which is a great achievement for such a wonderful cricket. He deserves a lot respect and recognition. It is up to Dhoni to take the decision. Sunil Gavaskar said it unfair on Dhoni to remove him from One day International captaincy.
Dhoni’s contribution to the Indian cricket has been immense and it is beneficial for Indian cricket to have Dhoni as the One day International captain and has a lot to contribute to Indian cricket.
Losing to Bangladesh was not a good result but the home team played some great cricket and Indian team need Dhoni as captain. Dhoni’s batting form has been a concern for India and he needs to reinvent himself. Dhoni can improve his batting in some areas.
Sunil Gavaskar was not happy with the current players and asked them to pull up their socks. MS Dhoni has retired from Test cricket in 2014 after losing the Test series to Australia 2-0. Dhoni should be captain and with his age at 33 he seems fine for now but when he becomes 35 or 36 he might just play as player because of additional responsibility. Dhoni’s captaincy has affected him, but he has lot to contribute, concluded Sunil Gavaskar.
