ENG vs IND 2018: Jasprit Bumrah Ruled out of ODI Series; Shardul Thakur Named Replacement

In what comes as another big blow to Team India, speedster Jasprit Bumrah got ruled of the three-match ODI series against England.

Bumrah who got sidelined from the ongoing T20I series hasn’t fully recovered from his injury. Given his impact especially in the shorter formats, his absence will leave a huge void in the bowling department.

Bumrah sustained a fracture to his left thumb ahead of the opening T20I against England. He failed to recuperate from the injury on time and hence got ruled out of the ODI series.

Meanwhile, Shardul Thakur has been announced his replacement for the ODI series. It will be a big opportunity for Shardul to step on to the occasion. However, he might not be part of the playing XI.

Bumrah to prove his fitness again ahead of the Test series

Bumrah will again prove his fitness ahead of the five-match Test series which is slated to begin from 1st August.

With more than 20 days left for the series to start, Bumrah is expected to recover for the red ball format. All-rounder Washington Sundar also got ruled out of the limited-overs series earlier. He sustained an injury during a training session when the team was playing football.

Deepak Chahar who has been quite impressive for India A and Chennai Super Kings in the IPL was called up as a replacement for Bumrah in the shortest format.

As a replacement for Sundar, Krunal Pandya was brought in for the T20I squad.

India played a scintillating brand of cricket in the opening T20I and thrashed the hosts by eight wickets. Kuldeep Yadav proved his mettle in his very first match on the English soil. The left-arm chinaman bowler bamboozled the England batting line-up with his exceptional variations and ended up bagging five wickets.

KL Rahul was the star with the bat, as he smashed his 2nd T20I century and remained unbeaten on 101 off 54 deliveries.
