Shikhar Dhawan reveals the secret
Team India good fielding session on Monday ahead of the fourth Test at the Ageas Bowl. Dhawan took to Twitter to reveal the secret of their improvement at Trent Bridge. Fielding coach R Sridhar brought an innovative change to improve the reaction time of the Indian slip fielders.
The drill consists of an opaque board placed between the players and Sridhar. The board was placed a little above the ground to have enough space for a ball to slide in. The coach kept throwing the balls through the space from one end with the fielders catching on the other. The board allows no eye contact with the hands as a result of which the players have to judge the trajectory on their own and keep focus.
Shikhar Dhawan suggested keeping low and having soft hands as the key for slip catching.
“Had a good slip catch practice session with an innovate drill setup by
@coach_rsridhar to improve reaction time. Pro-tip to everyone watching this video: Stay low and keep soft hands to not miss those tough slip catches. #teamindia #practice #catcheswinmatches,” the post read.
