England will find themselves in the second spot of the MRF Tyres ICC Test Team Rankings, following their 2-0 series win against Sri Lanka at the end of the series, whatever may be the outcome of the last Test at Colombo.

Meanwhile, England won the second Test by 57 runs to gain an unassailable 2-0 lead. And with it, have also assured them a jump to the second irrespective of how the third Tests result. However, a win for Sri Lanka will mean England will join South Africa on 106 points, but England will be in second place by a fraction of a point.

Moreover, a drawn Test will mean England will finish on 107 points – nine points behind top-ranked India and one point ahead of the Proteas. In addition to, there will be plenty of movements in the latest MRF Tyres ICC Test Player Rankings. In the batting list, Mushfiqur Rahim has achieved the career-best position of 18th following his double-century against Zimbabwe.

Zimbabwe’s Brendon Taylor’s two centuries (110 and 106) have helped him jump 18 places to 27th position while Mahmudullah has moved from 74th to 57th following his good show in the opening Test.

The biggest movers from the Pallekele Test have been Angelo Mathews and Roshen Silva of Sri Lanka and England’s Ben Foakes. Mathews has returned to the top 20 while Silva is now 53rd (up by 25 places) and Foakes is 54th (up by 15 places) only after two Tests.

Virat Kohli, meanwhile, leads the batting chart followed by banned Steven Smith and Kane Williamson. On the other hand, Shakib Al Hasan of Bangladesh continues to lead the all-rounders’ list. The change of note is the rise of Mehedi Hasan, who has moved up eight places to a career-high 15th position.
