England vs India 2018, 5th Test Match, Day 5 – Lunch Report

England took two steps towards making the series 4-1 as they scalped two wickets in the opening session of Day 5 of the fifth Test match. In fact, the final Test match is the only one which has entered into the last day of a particular Test match in this series.

Meanwhile, KL Rahul took an aggressive approach as he finally found his touch. The flamboyant scored his maiden hundred in the English conditions. This was Rahul’s fifth Test century.

KL Rahul was on fire in the opening session.

In fact, Rahul changed gears like a Formula One car and decided to bat in the topmost gear. Thus, Rahul was able to give Indian fans as well as team management something to cheer about after a horrendous Test match.

Meanwhile, India’s hopes of saving the Test match are still hanging by a thread. The tourists received a blow when they lost their deputy Ajinkya Rahane who tried to sweep and top edged it.

Rahane was sent back by Moeen Ali as Keaton Jennings completed a catch. Hanuma Vihari who scored his maiden Test fifty in the first inning, could not trouble the scorers as the right-hander got a fine delivery from Ben Stokes.

Rishabh Pant took the cautious approach as he didn’t play with fire but took one chance against Moeen Ali with a single-handed shot to loft him over the long on boundary. Meanwhile, KL Rahul catapulted his attack on England bowlers as he put a fine exhibition of batsmanship. Thus, Joe Root bowled with the spread field as he tried to catch KL Rahul off guard.

In fact, the stylish Indian opener even tried the reverse sweep as he tried to play attacking shots in the session. Meanwhile, Sam Curran was able to beat the bat in between which has been a similar story of this Test match. On the other hand, Ben Stokes went with the short stuff to get the better of KL Rahul. However, he was kept at bay by the right-hander.
