England vs India 2018: MS Dhoni Sheds Light on India’s Series Loss

Former Indian skipper MS Dhoni has shed light on India’s series loss against England. The tourists were not up to the mark and lost the crucial junctions of the series. In fact, India had England on the ropes on some occasions. However, they were not able to apply the finishing touches.

Meanwhile, MS Dhoni believes India missed out on their chances as they played a solitary practice match before the Test series. Therefore, the batsmen struggled to get going. Indian captain Virat Kohli was the lone warrior as he scored 593 runs. However, he was not able to get the same support from the other end.

Indian team misses the trick once again.

India played only one warm-up match against Essex but the batsmen let the team down. Thus, India was ill-prepared for the series. Meanwhile, Virat Kohli had recently said while talking to Michael Holding that it is important to play the practice matches against good sides and in the conditions which they may encounter in the match.

Attending the CISF at the Birsa Munda Airport which was about a program, Ranchi, MS Dhoni said, “Indian team missed out on playing practices matches before the series, which is why the batsmen are finding it difficult to adjust. This is a part of the game. We shouldn’t forget that India is currently No. 1 in the rankings”.

It is crucial to play the practice matches to get acclimatized to the conditions. However, Virat Kohli and Co. haven’t paid much attention to the warm-up games. Thus, the lead up to a series has been poor for India.

In fact, India didn’t play any practice matches on the South African tour, thereby they went on to lose that series by 2-1. It has been a surprising approach by the Indian team as the practice matches have always played a key role in the success of every team. Virat Kohli might be batting at a different level and thus he has scored a truckload of runs. However, he needs to understand the fact his batsman are not at the same level.

It is imperative to play the practice matches as you get into match situations. Subsequently, runs scored in match conditions adds more confidence than the time spent in the nets sessions.
