Sachin Tendulkar believes England’s prodigy Sam Curran has been the standout player in the series. The Master Blaster believes Sam Curran is a smart thinker. Sam Curran scored 272 runs and scalped 11 wickets in the four Test matches. Thus, it was a fine all-around performance from the 20-year old Surrey lad.

In fact, Sam Curran scored runs at crucial junctions of the series. England was 86-6 in the first Test match and had found themselves in dire states. However, the southpaw batsman was able to bail them out with a fine half-century.

Furthermore, Curran repeated a similar performance in the fourth Test match when he again turned the tide in host’s favour. Therefore, Curran played a key role in wins of two Test matches for the hosts as he turned the series on its head. Consequently, Sam Curran was also awarded the Player of the series for his fine overall performance.

Meanwhile, Sachin Tendulkar also congratulated the England side for winning the series by 4-1. England was able to put a better collective effort and thus they were the better side. Hence they deserve to win the series.

On the other hand, Alastair Cook ended his career on a high. Cook scored 218 runs in his swansong match and thus bid adieu in style. The southpaw batsman ended with 12,474 runs and 33 Test hundreds.
