England vs India 2018: Watch Virat Kohli Applause Hanuma Vihari’s Fighting Fifty
Indian captain Virat Kohli and other team members gave a standing ovation to debutant Hanuma Vihari after the 24-year old reached his maiden fifty. It was a fine effort from the Andhra player as he showed great fight to battle against all the odds.
Vihari was lucky early on in his innings when England decided not to go for the review. Similarly, an on-field decision was overturned when the stumps were missing.
However, Vihari kept his focus intact as he eluded the fine spell of James Anderson and Stuart Broad in the end stages of day’s two. Thus, Vihari was able to make most of it on Day 3.
The right-hander put together a partnership of 74 runs with Ravindra Jadeja to keep India in the hunt. Both Vihari and Jadeja kept rotating the strike as they kept England bowlers at bay. In fact, James Anderson and Stuart Broad missed the outside edge on a plethora of occasions, which has been a common story in this ongoing Test match.
In fact, Hanuma Vihari has an impressive first-class average of 59.72. Therefore, there is no doubt that he has the game to deliver the goods at the topmost level. Meanwhile, Indian top order has struggled and Vihari was able to hit the ground running in England.
Former Indian skipper Sunil Gavaskar was also impressed by Vihari’s technique. Gavaskar said that Vihari has an ideal Test match bat swing as his bat comes down straight to the ball. Thus, the Little Master believes Vihari can also bat at the top of the order
In fact, Vihari showed great resistance and showed the stomach for the fight. Vihari scored seven fours and a solitary six in his maiden innings in the red ball version.
