Former Pakistan speedster and popularly known as the ‘Rawalpindi Express’ yet again lashed out at Pakistan for failing to defend yet another impressive total against England during the 4th ODI. For the 3rd time in succession, Pakistan posted more than 340 but failed to win any of the matches.

These are worrying signs for Pakistan especially with the 2019 World Cup just around the corner. Shoaib Akhtar expressed his disappointment with the Pakistan bowling unit which has lacked venom in the series so far.

Taking to his Twitter handle, Shoaib Akhtar wrote, “Another failed attempt to defend a 300+ total by Pakistan and the series loss. Disappointed by the bowling again.” It was yet another horrendous performance as Jason Roy proved to be instrumental in helping England chase the stiff target down in the final over of the match.

Pakistan after batting first put up a competitive score of 340 in their allotted 50 overs. The total was largely possible due to a magnificent knock from the blade of Babar Azam. The top order batsman was supported well by Mohammad Hafeez. The English bowlers were plundered for runs yet again. It will be an area of concern for England despite winning all the completed 3 matches.

The Pakistan bowlers were impressive in the middle overs when they bagged 3 wickets for just 7 runs to push the hosts on the backfoot. Jason Roy got England off to a sensational start with a knock of 114 of just 89 deliveries, an innings which was studded with 11 fours and 4 sixes. However, after his dismissal, Pakistan came back into the match and bagged three crucial English wickets.

Eventually, it was Ben Stokes who held his nerve and saw his side through. The southpaw scored a magnificent 71 of 64 deliveries which were studded with 5 fours and 3 sixes. Pakistan had failed to defend 359 in the previous ODI while they were defeated in the 1st match as well despite scoring more than 350 while chasing the target.
