England skipper Eoin Morgan praised Jofra Archer’s performance. The fast bowler Archer has gained the fame from ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 through his bowling attack. In the World Cup final, he bowled the super over which was a crucial part. His Ashes 2019 performance was also commendable. He was the third-highest wicket-taker though he only played four Test matches in that Ashes series.

Morgan appreciated Jofra Archer’s contribution in the team and quoted him as an “X-factor”. The 24-year-old made his debut this year and in a short period, has made his place in the cricket world. He has recently been given the central contract by England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB). Morgan observed that the fast bowler has never disappointed when the team needed him.

“I think it is fantastic. Jofra is very exciting to watch and he bowls fast and has an X-factor. He can bowl in any format of the game and any circumstances and to any plan,” Morgan said.

“Every obstacle that is being put in front of him, he overcame that. We haven’t seen the best of him, he still wants to learn all the time.”

Morgan Praised Ben Stokes

Eoin Morgan also appreciated the efforts of Ben Stokes. The batsman has stunned everyone through his innings at Headingley where he single-handedly led the team from the front. Because of his unbeaten batting, England won that game.

“Who would have thought after the World Cup final performance that took absolutely everything that he could come up with, on his own we would win a game (third Ashes Test) at Headingley. The innings exposed every attribute that you need to be a Test match batsman. It was exceptional,” he said.

“We have 18 T20 International games from between now and then and we will try to build a squad that can potentially win that tournament (World T20),” Morgan told a group of reporters here.

“Realistically we do (stand a chance of winning). We came to India in 2016 and made it to the final. We had a similar squad during the World Cup in England this year.”

“If we can build our momentum and gel together as aside, it will give us the best chance,” added the left-handed batsman.

England won the World Cup this year and they will want to repeat their victory in T20 World Cup next year. Morgan opines that there will be changes in the strategy for next year.

“Our strategy will change in the new year towards the (T20) World Cup. It is been a long summer for some of us and some need rest. I think, in the immediate future, we might experiment a little bit. But next year, we will be working towards building a strong team.”
