One of the India’s young rising stars, Sarfaraz Khan, admitted that his experience in the senior level cricket would help him in the upcoming U19 Cricket World Cup.

Sarfaraz played for Royal Challengers Bangalore in the Indian Premier League in the last year.

Sarfaraz had also represented India U19 in the 2014 ICC U19 Cricket World Cup. India had lost against England in the quarter-finals and finished at the 5th position in that tournament. During that tournament, he had scored 211 runs in the 6 matches including two fifties with the average of 70.33.

India’s exit from the quarter-final in 2014 U19 WC had hurt Sarfaraz. Sarfaraz said in an ICC media release, “Our hopes of defending the title in 2014 were dashed when we lost to England in the quarter-finals. That really hurts and we are determined to go all the way this time. It helps to have played at the senior level in domestic cricket but I can’t be complacent about that. We will be competing against the world’s best junior players in Bangladesh. I just want to do well and help my team win.”

Many cricket experts praised Sarfaraz after watching his batting in the IPL.

The 2016 ICC U19 Cricket World Cup will be the 11th edition of the youth tournament, which will be held from 27th January to 14th February. Total 16 teams will take participant in this competition. The WC will feature nine Test playing nations and seven Association/Affiliated nations as Afghanistan, Canada, Fiji, Ireland, Namibia, Nepal and Scotland. Earlier this month, Ireland was invited to play in this tournament after Australia withdrew from this tournament.

India is placed in Group D along with New Zealand, Ireland (earlier Australia) and Nepal.
