Faf Du Plessis Or Hashim Amla Might Lead The World XI team In Pakistan that 15 players from seven countries have agreed to tour Pakistan for a three match T20 series in Lahore. One of the most promising news coming out is that either Hashim Amla or Faf Du Plessis will be captaining the world XI team. Hashim Amla and Faf Du Plessis are two big names in cricket South Africa and world cricket. Their presence in the tour would encourage more world class players to travel to Pakistan.
“Two big names in South Africa and world cricket, Hashim Amla and Faf du Plessis, have consented to tour Pakistan with the ICC World XI and one of them will be the captain of the side.”
PCB chairman Najam Sethi said,
“Players from England, New Zealand, West Indies, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, and Zimbabwe have agreed to play the World XI tournament in Pakistan. India, however, has declined to send players.” ICC and PCB are currently looking after the financial payments and insurance for the World XI players.
Micky Arthur, the coach of Pakistan cricket team is hopeful that the World XI tour helps to revive cricket back in the region. After the glory of Champions trophy, Arthur is hopeful that Pakistan cricket could regain it lost glory in world cricket as well. Terrorist attacks in the country have restricted teams to travel to Pakistan with only Zimbabwe traveling the country since 2009. Pakistan have been hosting their home series in the UAE.
