Fate Of IPL 2020 Still Undecided: BCCI Sources Confirm
While the situation hasn’t improved in India as well as globally, the future of the IPL 2020 is totally doubtful. However, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) hasn’t taken any final decision on the IPL 2020 yet.
After some delay, the 13th edition of the Indian Premier League or IPL 2020 was initially scheduled from 29th March to 24th May 2020. But the novel COVID-19 or coronavirus has massively hit the tournament. In the initial stage of this virus in the country, the government has suspended most of the visas till 15th April, which directly affected the IPL as the overseas players became unavailable during this period. Also, the sports ministry requested to organise the events without the presence of spectators. Due to these reasons, the BCCI has postponed the IPL 2020 till 15th April.
However, the global situation, as well as the country’s situation, hasn’t improved anyway. Due to this virus, more than 700,000 have been affected while more than 35,000 deaths have been reported already. In India, the coronavirus cases have crossed the 1,000-mark while 29 deaths have been reported. The suffering rate is increasing, along with the death reports.
Like many other countries, India is currently going through the complete lockdown process as it is the only solution at present to beat the coronavirus. However, the situation hasn’t been controlled yet.
IPL 2020 is still unsure but the BCCI hasn’t taken any final decision
So, the future of IPL 2020 is totally under the dark cloud. Not only in April, but the IPL 13 is also not likely to be possible to begin even in May. Moreover, recently some media reports have claimed that the IPL 2020 must need to start in the first week of May. Due to these all reasons, some recent media reports have claimed that this year’s IPL is going to be cancelled.
However, according to a recent report of royalchallengers.com (the official website of Royal Challengers Bangalore), the BCCI sources have confirmed that no final decision has been taken about the IPL 2020 yet.
