The former Australian two-time World Cup-winning captain Ricky Ponting was one of the greatest batsmen in cricket history. At present, Ponting is the third most run-scorer in international cricket history and most international run-scorer for Australia as the right-handed batsman scored 27,483 runs in 668 international innings (average 45.95).

In India, Ponting’s overall record is not bad though as he scored 2,474 runs in 72 international innings with an average of 35.34, including six centuries and 15 half-centuries.

But in the Test cricket on the Indian soil, Ponting’s performances didn’t match with his quality. While the right-handed batsman batted in 25 Test innings in India (14 Test matches), he scored 662 runs (average 26.48), including one century and five half-centuries. He always faced huge trouble against the Indian spinners on the Indian soil.
