The Punjab-based leg-spinner Rahul Sharma played for India in four ODIs and two T20Is between 2011 and 2012. He played in five IPL seasons, representing three different teams (Deccan Chargers 2010; Pune Warriors India 2011-2013 and Delhi Daredevils 2014). \
However, he had only one successful IPL season, and that was his first season for Pune Warriors India (PWI) in 2011. While he was the leading wicket-taker for his team in that season with 16 wickets, he also ended up as the joint seventh most wicket-taker in that edition. But his team finished ninth on the points table in 2011. He failed to repeat that splendid performance in other IPL seasons.
