After being ignored for a place in the squad for World Cup 2019, Ambati Rayudu took a subtle dig at selectors by doing a 3-D tweet. In his tweet, the right-handed batsman took dig at selectors, who picked Vijay Shankar over him for the 3-D qualities that he possesses.

The BCCI seemed to be irked with Rayudu’s tweet so much that even after being on standby, Rayudu wasn’t called to the World Cup squad despite team India needing two replacement players after injuries to Shikhar Dhawan and Vijay Shankar.
At last, Rayudu gave up hoes of playing international cricket again and retired from the game during World Cup. Had he not done that sarcastic tweet, the things could have been different and he could have been part of the World Cup squad as well.
Not just Rayudu, many other cricketers, in past, have found themselves making controversial Tweets. Heres a look at few of them –
R Ashwin –Â He is one of the most active cricketers on Twitter and often replies to users as well. From making sarcastic replies to taking criticism, Ashwin does everything on Twitter but last year, he went over the board after Herchelles Gibbs made slight fun of him. Ashwin reminded Gibbs that he had been accused of fixing in past.
Gibbs was unamused with it and Ashwin stated that he was joking, just like Gibbs did at the start.
Jofra Archer – Looking at Jofra Archer’s old tweets, one will easily come to know that Jofra Archer can indeed see the future. Four years before the Sandpaper Gate unearthed in South Africa, Archer had given signs of sandpaper being used on the field in his tweet which goes back to 2014.

Not just this, the man of Archer’s tweet have gone viral on social media and on occasions, even ICC is seen commenting on Archer’s past tweets.
Mushfiqur Rahim – Bangladesh famously lost to India by just one run in 2016 T20 World Cup. That was a must-win game for India and MS Dhoni, with his quick running on the final delivery, ensured that the batsman was short of the crease when he dislodged the bails.
India went on to play semi-finals against West Indies later, which they lost. More than team India’s defeat, the tweet was done by Mushfiqur Rahim went viral as he was happy and was able to sleep better after team India lost.
As expected, he invited criticism for his tweet and ultimately took down the post. Not to forget, Rahim had already taken a winning jump against India but in the end, Bangladesh fell short.
Moeen Ali – England had a torrid time in India in 2016 as they lost the Test series by a margin of 0-4. The Three Lions showed promise in the first Test but in the next four games, it was a cakewalk for India.

During the series, Moeen Ali got out to a bouncer. While analysing his dismissal, Aakash Chopra demonstrated lessons from his dismissal which did not go down well with Moeen. He came up with a tweet that mentioned Aakash Chopra’s international numbers. Although soon he realised his mistake and took down the post. Moeen also apologised to the former India opener later.
