The internal clash between the executives of the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) came in the limelight on Friday when Sourav Ganguly blasted a section of CAB officials saying, “There has been an effort to malign me right from the beginning when I became the president of this association.”
The a section of executives raised questions over how CAB president announced that Eden Gardens is going to have its own sponsor without going through the proper system by not opening tender. Ganguly has been taking an initiative to install a modern electronic scoreboard at the Eden before the Twenty World Cup final in March. And in a bid to materialize the effort Ganguly has been trying to rope in a 2.5 crore sponsor for the ground. Ganguly fumed at his colleagues in the association, said, “It has been amazing that when I have been trying to make the association financially stronger a section of my colleagues have started back biting me continuously.”
Ganguly also pointed out at the issue of Laxmi Ratan Shukla’s omission and retirement issue. He said, “I have heard that it was my conspiracy that forced Shukla out of the Bengal team and also pressured him to quit from first class cricket. How can it be possible that I myself will try to create jeopardy in Bengal cricket when I am a president?”
