Chennai Super Kings will release 5 players
CSK, on 14th November, hinted to release its five players. Gautam Gambhir, who has played in IPL for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Delhi Daredevils, named three players which CSK can release. According to the former cricket, leg-spinner Karn Sharma, medium-pacer Mohit Sharma and English batsman Sam Billings can be released. He opined that losing them will not affect the team.
The England cricketer Sam Billings, in the last edition, played only one match after which he went back to prepare for Cricket World Cup. There were reports that the player will be released. Gambhir detects that the likes of Imran Tahir will give less chance to Sam Billings in the game.
“With Imran Tahir already in their squad, Karn Sharma will hardly get to play,” said Gambhir.
IPL is not about youngsters
CSK was criticised for selecting players without concerning the age factors. Gautam Gambhir expressed that IPL is not all about youngsters. CSK has proved that they stick to their plan without concerning other factors.
“I always believe, in IPL it’s not about youngsters only, it’s about a particular season. That’s what CSK has done so well. They have been referred to as an aged side they but concentrated on the present season,” said Gambhir.
Chennai Super Kings, the tough contender of IPL trophy, is the team of the most experienced players. MS Dhoni-led CSK team lost the final of IPL 2019 against Mumbai Indians (MI).
