Veteran cricketer Yuvraj Singh announced his retirement from the cricketing world on Monday. And ever since his retirement, the whole world is paying tribute to him. From his friends to his fans and the great cricketing legends, the social media websites are abuzz in wishing Yuvraj for his second innings. And among all, his one of the closest pals, Gautam Gambhir had paid him one of the best tributes. Former Indian cricketer, Gambhir hailed Yuvraj while saying that he wished to bat like him during his career.
Having led India to win the World Cup 2011, Yuvraj has been a match-winning number, four player. And India has not been able to find a replacement for him since the drop in his batting. Last time Yuvraj played for India was in the series against the West Indies in 2017. But his contribution to Indian cricket is and will always remain unparallel. Known for his show-stopper six sixes haul, Yuvraj rose to dizzying heights in the inaugural World T20 in 2007.
Gambhir says that BCCI should retire jersey number 12 in tribute to Yuvraj Singh
The best moments for the ‘cancerous tumour’ fighter came in the 2011 World Cup. Yuvraj ended up scoring 362 runs and scalped 15 wickets in nine matches to lift the title of ‘Man of the Tournament’.
Meanwhile, tributing to his closest friend, Gambhir exclaimed that BCCI should retire the jersey number 12.
He also quoted ‘Prince’ as one fine batsman whom he wished he could bat like. However, the journey to Yuvraj’s career comes to an end here. He had made clear that he won’t be playing international cricket as well as Indian Premier League (IPL) tournament. The marvellous legend of Indian cricket will always be missed for his swashbuckling batting.
Congratulations Prince @YUVSTRONG12 on a wonderful career. You were the best ever white ball cricketer India had. @BCCI should retire Number 12 jersey in the tribute to your career. Wish I could bat like you Champion #Yuvrajsinghretires #ThankYouYuvraj #ThankYouYuvi
