Glenn Maxwell of Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) will be available for selection for their opening game of the 13th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) against Delhi Capitals according to KXIP. Glenn Maxwell, who is a destructive batsman always generates tremendous interest at the IPL auction. A brilliant fielder, who can contribute with his off-spin, can play the role of a floater in a line-up.
His one of the best seasons was in 2014 when he teamed up with David Miller for Kings XI Punjab in demolishing the opposition and he now again returns to KXIP. The franchise went all out for him and could finally secure his services at a whopping Rs. 10.75 crore. Incidentally, IPL 2014 was held in UAE though partly besides India.
Glenn Maxwell Eligible For Selection In Opening Match After 3 Day Quarantine
On their official website, Kings XI Punjab informed that Glenn Maxwell arrived in the UAE on September 17 following the conclusion of Australia’s England tour.
“He would now be required to complete only a three-day quarantine period in the team hotel instead of the normal five, as per regulations, as he arrived into the country from an already bio-secure bubble in England,” Kings XI said.
“With his quarantine period scheduled to be complete on Saturday, Maxwell would be eligible for selection for Kings XI Punjab’s season opener against Delhi Capitals on September 20,” it added.
Glenn Maxwell was in great form in the recently concluded T20 and ODI series against England. He was the Player of the Series in the ODI series which Australia won 2-1. Glenn Maxwell was the second-highest run-scorer in ODI series after England’s Jonny Bairstow with 186 runs in 3 matches averaging 62. He scored only 33 in the 3 T20Is though but picked up 2 wickets in the preceding T20I series.
