South Africa’s gun fast bowler Dale Steyn believes Australia’s talisman batsman Glenn Maxwell would have been named as a 360-degree batsman had AB de Villiers was not around. Maxwell has the skills to play all around the ground and can hit the ball anywhere. The Australian right-hander is unpredictable with his stance and moves a lot in the crease especially in the shortest format of the game.
Meanwhile, Dale Steyn and Glenn Maxwell are teammates for Melbourne Stars in the ongoing Big Bash League. Steyn had a decent BBL debut against Adelaide Strikers as he took one wicket and conceded 29 runs in the three overs he bowled.
Maxwell has the skills to hit the ground running.
On the other hand, Maxwell had played a blistering knock of 43 runs off 25 balls with the help of four sixes and one four in the same match but his efforts went in vain as Stars lost by four runs.
AB de Villiers had picked up the 360-degree tag after he showed he has the skills to play all around the ground. Furthermore, de Villiers has great hand-eye coordination which helps him make the last-minute adjustments.
“When it comes to T20, you very rarely get guys that strike it as cleanly as he does. He’s very smart, too, the way he goes about it. You talk about guys like AB de Villiers being a 360 (degree) player but ‘Maxi’ is up there, too. It’s just a nickname that AB’s earned because he plays like that, but had AB not been around you could’ve easily nicknamed someone like Maxi ‘Mr 360’ because he’s got that capability of taking you down in areas you don’t want the ball to go,” Steyn was quoted as saying by Cricket.com.au.

Meanwhile, Glenn Maxwell had taken a break from the game due to mental issues. However, he is back on the field and is leading Melbourne Stars in the BBL.
The talisman all-rounder was bought by Kings XI Punjab in the IPL 2020 auction for a whopping price of INR 10.75 crores. Maxwell has represented the Punjab franchise in the past and he would like to be at his best in the IPL as well as the BBL.
