Zimbabwean cricketer Dave Houghton made his Test debut at the age of 35 years and 117 days when his team was facing India at Harare in October 1992. On his Test debut, the right-handed batsman Houghton scored 121 and 41 not out.

Houghton served for the Zimbabwean Test team till 1997, where he played a total of 22 Tests. During his Test career, Houghton scored 1464 runs with an average of 43.05, including four centuries and four half-centuries. His best Test knock was 266 runs against Sri Lanka at Bulawayo in October 1994, which was also the first Test double-century by a Zimbabwean cricketer. During his Test career, Houghton never scored a duck.
