The veteran Indian off-spinner Harbhajan Singh has questioned on Indian team selection process after the youngster Shubman Gill hasn’t been selected in the playing XI during the Test series of the recently concluded New Zealand tour.

India recently-completed their full international tour in New Zealand which ran for around one-and-a-half-month long. The visitors started that tournament in a great way by winning the five-match T20I series by the 5-0 margin.

But then they lost the three-match ODI series 3-0 and two-match Test series of that tour by 2-0 respectively.

Indian batsmen massively failed in the Test series where the visitors scored only 165, 191, 242 and 124 runs respectively.

Shubman Gill was in form for India A in New Zealand tour

Ahead of the beginning of international series in New Zealand tour, India A started to play one-day matches against the hosts New Zealand A. Later, they also played first-class games against the same side. They also played some practice matches in that tour.

Gill mostly performed consistently for India A in that tour as he scored 50, 24 and 30 runs respectively in the List A games.

Later, in the first-class matches, the 20-year-old right-handed batsman scored 83, 204* and 136 runs respectively for India A.

The youngster Gill was included only in the Test squad for the international tour in New Zealand.

Ahead of the two-match Test series in that tour, Gill featured in the one three-day tour game against New Zealand XI where he failed to score good runs (0 and 8).

During the Test series, Indian team management chose Prithvi Shaw over Gill in both the matches. In that Test series, Shaw scored 16, 14, 54 and 14 runs respectively.
