Team India’s allrounder Hardik Pandya, in his debut series, scored his maiden Test century against Sri Lanka today (13th August) exactly three years ago. It also became the fastest Test hundred by any Indian batter at No.8.
During the India tour of Sri Lanka in 2017, Hardik Pandya, who was the debutant, had scored a half-century in the first Test. He went on to score a ton in the last Test guiding India to victory. The attacking batsman scored 108 off just 96 balls with 8 fours and 7 sixes and helped India post 487 in their first innings. On the other hand, Sri Lankan team was bundled out for 135 and 181 in reply as India won by an innings and 171 runs and the series 3-0.

Hardik Pandya earned the call from the national team after shinning in the IPL. He had a prolific outing in the 2016 and 2017 edition which grabbed the attention of national selectors. The bowling allrounder also didn’t disappointed with his performance at the international platform.
The flamboyant cricketer is now the lynchpin for Team India. He had played a crucial role with his bat and ball on several occasions. However, Pandya has not played for the team for over one year. He was out of the team last year in August after he suffered from the back injury. He went under surgery and then under-recovery period which had kept him away from the team for five to six months.
The Baroda player was set to return in the ODI series against South Africa in March but the pandemic further halted his comeback. Nevertheless, he will be again seen in action in the upcoming IPL edition in the UAE.
