ICC Women’s T20 World Cup: Harmanpreet Kaur Wants Trophy As Her Birthday Gift

On 8th March, Harmanpreet Kaur-led India women’s cricket team will play the maiden final of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup against Australia at Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG). It will be a special day for the captain as her birthday also falls on the same date. Lifting the World Cup Trophy on her birthday will surely be a dream come true moment for humble Harmanpreet.

In Sydney, India could not play the semi-final game against England because of inclement weather. Thus, they got the direct entry in the finale after topping the group chart, winning all the league matches. They had also defeated Australia in the series opener in Sydney. Indian team might be confident to repeat that victory in the grand finale as well.

Ahead of the clash, while addressing the reporters during the presser, she was asked by media persons what gift she wants on her birthday.

The skipper at once said, ” Mujhe to trophy chaiya aur kuch nahi chahiya” (I want just World Cup trophy nothing else).

The ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Trophy 2020 will surely be the best gift her teammates will want to give her.

Harmanpreet Kaur’s form a worrying factor:

So far, the Women in Blue have won all the matches but the concerning factor for India is that their captain Harmanpreet Kaur is out of form. She has even failed to touch the mark of 20 during the tournament. So far, she has returned with figures of 2, 8, 1, 1.

Her last best came against New Zealand in the semi-finals of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2018 where she scored a century. Since then, she hasn’t scored a fifty in T20Is.

Maybe, the skipper is saving the best for the last. Well, everything will be disclosed tomorrow when the two strong teams will compete for the trophy in Melbourne.
