He was the only cricketer to make it to Forbes’ list of the top 100 highest-paid athletes in the world for the year 2020. Virat Kohli is currently ranked number one batsman in ODI and number two in test cricket.
Babar Azam has had marvellous two past years for Pakistan and has earned the number one rank of T20 batsman. He has an average of over 50 in ODI and T20s and a little over 45 in Tests. His Indian counterpart maintains an average of above 50 in all the formats of the game.
They Play In Straight Lines Just Like He Did: Ian Bishop
Ian Bishop talked about Virat Kohli and Babar Azam reminding him of the great Sachin Tendulkar in an Instagram live session with former Zimbabwe pacer Pommie Mbangwa.
“Virat Kohli, Babar Azam, who in terms of the straight lines, you remember Sachin Tendulkar, there’s a reason why I think he was the best batsman I bowled to as he always played in the straight lines and these two guys (Kohli, Azam) present that,” Ian Bishop told Mbangwa during the interaction.
Sachin Tendulkar finished his career at 100 centuries and as the top run-scorer in ODI and Test Cricket. Virat Kohli is at 70 centuries and is still 31 years old, hence will soon catch up with Sachin Tendulkar’s record.
I Am Seeing A Fast Bowling Renaissance Right Now And It Excites Me
The West Indies‘ former pacer and Pommie Mbangwa also chatted about the current crop of fast bowlers. He said the new bowlers have hyped him with their exceptional talents.
“Jasprit Bumrah is a generational talent, the ability to adapt to all the formats is brilliant. Kagiso Rabada is someone I find impressive, the first time I saw him was in a T20 match and he was bowling to Keiron Pollard. I am seeing a fast bowling renaissance right now and it excites me,”said Ian Bishop
He also praised England pacer Jofra Archer for his easiness with the ball. Babar Azam has been praised heavily around the world and is considered already in the likes of Virat Kohli and Steve Smith by the legends of the game as well as the fans. Virat Kohli has already established himself as an elite player and is idolised by many young cricketers.
