ICC Cricket World Cup 2019: Hashim Amla Is Close To Break Another Virat Kohli’s World Record

The 2019 ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup is set to begin. On Thursday (30th May), the host side England will face South Africa in the opening match of the tournament at The Oval (London). Meanwhile, South African star Hashim Amla is very close to breaking one world record which Virat Kohli is holding at present.

The 36-year-old South African cricketer Hashim Amla has scored 7,910 runs in 171 ODI innings (174 ODI matches) with an average of 49.74. He has hit 27 centuries and 37 half-centuries in ODI career, including his best knock of 159 runs.

With 90 more runs, Amla will complete his 8,000 ODI runs. If he achieves this milestone in the next three matches, Amla will be the fastest batsman to score 8,000 ODI runs.

At present, Indian star Virat Kohli is holding the record of the fastest batsman to score 8,000 ODI runs. He completed this figure in just 175 ODI innings (183 ODI matches). In June 2017, during India’s Champions Trophy semi-final match against Bangladesh, Kohli achieved that special feat. He broke the previous record which was in 182 ODI innings by the former South African star AB de Villiers.
