Indian vice-captain Rohit Sharma was in the top batting form during this World Cup. As an opening batsman, Rohit slammed five centuries (including three successive centuries) in this tournament which is also the most centuries for a batsman in a CWC edition. The right-handed batsman finished this tournament as the leading run-scorer as he scored 648 runs in nine innings with an average of 81.00 and strike-rate of 98.33. Apart from hitting five centuries, Rohit also registered another half-century in this tournament.
In the history of single CWC edition, only two batsmen scored more runs than Rohit Sharma. Sachin Tendulkar (India) scored the record 673 runs in 2003 CWC, and Matthew Hayden (Australia) scored 659 runs in 2007 CWC.
