Indian middle-order batsman Suresh Raina played a significant role for India in the previous Cricket World Cup. The left-handed batsman was the fourth most run-scorer for India in that tournament as he scored 284 runs in six innings with an average of 56.80 and strike-rate of 110.07. He scored one century and two half-centuries in that tournament.

His best performance in that tournament was during their final Group Stage game against Zimbabwe. Chasing down the 288 runs target, India was once struggling on 92/4. Later, Raina and the captain MS Dhoni put a magnificent unbroken 196 runs partnership for the fifth wicket to secure a remarkable victory. Raina slammed a century in that game as he scored unbeaten 110 runs in 104 balls.

In that tournament, India finished their journey in the semi-final of that tournament.

Since that 2015 ICC Cricket World Cup, Raina failed to perform consistently for India. After that Cricket World Cup, he scored 227 runs in 10 ODI innings with an average of 22.70. In the present time, Raina is struggling to perform consistently in domestic cricket.
