On Sunday (9th July), during the Cricket World Cup match between India and Australia, Indian skipper Virat Kohli surpassed the former Indian cricketer Rahul Dravid in the most ODI runs tally.
It was India’s second game of the ongoing 2019 ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup. After winning the toss, India managed to score a whopping 352/5 (50 overs) in the first innings.
Indian openers Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan provided a brilliant start as they had a 127-run partnership. After Rohit departed on 57 runs (70 balls), Shikhar Dhawan carried that innings along with the skipper Virat Kohli. They had a 93-run partnership for the second wicket where Dhawan slammed a brilliant century in 95 balls. The left-handed opening batsman Dhawan finally lost his wicket after scoring 117 runs off 109 balls. In that innings, Dhawan hit 16 fours.

Then, Hardik Pandya was promoted to no.4 batting position and played a firing knock of 48 runs off just 27 balls (4 fours and 3 sixes). MS Dhoni (27 runs off 14 balls) and KL Rahul (11* off 3 balls) also played great cameos at the end.
Virat Kohli has scored 10,943 ODI runs
Meanwhile, the Indian captain Virat Kohli played a superb innings of 82 runs off 77 balls (4 fours and 2 sixes). It was Kohli’s 50th ODI half-century and 91st ODI 50+ score.

During that captain’s knock, Kohli surpassed the former Indian cricketer Rahul Dravid in the most ODI runs tally. While Dravid scored 10,889 ODI runs, Kohli has scored 10,943 ODI runs after playing this 221st ODI innings. Kohli is now in the ninth position in the most ODI run-scorer table, and Dravid has slipped down to the 10th position in this list.

Kohli has scored all the 10,943 ODI runs for Indian national cricket team. Meanwhile, Rahul Dravid scored 10,768 ODI runs for the Indian national cricket team. Playing for ICC World XI and Asia XI, Dravid scored 46 and 75 ODI runs respectively.
