2. 1992 Cricket World Cup: Rain finished South Africa’s incredible maiden CWC journey

1992 Cricket World Cup was South Africa’s maiden Cricket World Cup experience. They played impressive cricket in that entire tournament, but the unlucky rain broke their heart by finishing their journey in the semi-final.
In that semi-final at Sydney, South Africa played against England who managed to score 252/6 in 45 overs of the first innings. In reply, South Africa was batting on 231/6 in 42.5 overs before the rain-interruption, and they needed 22 more runs in 13 balls to win that match.
The rain interrupted that game for 12 more minutes, and finally, South Africa needed 21 more runs to win that match in just one ball. Coming to chase that impossible target, South Africa managed to score one more run as England won by 19 runs.
It was a very cruel end for South Africa who didn’t get their deserving chance at the end.
