1. 1999 ICC Cricket World Cup: South Africa messed up in the final moment in the semi-final

Many experts believe that the 1999 ICC Cricket World Cup team was the best South African team ever till the date. Once again, the Proteas badly choked in the CWC semi-final.
In that semi-final, Australia and South Africa faced each other at Birmingham. As Australia finished ahead of South Africa in the earlier Super Six round, that semi-final game was the must-win game for South Africa.
After bundling out Australia for 213 runs (49.2 overs), South Africa lost their wickets in regular intervals. From 198/9, Lance Klusener fought very hard and levelled the scoreline.
South Africa needed a single to reach the final of that tournament, and they had still three balls left. On the fourth ball of that final over, Klusener and Allan Donald had a poor mix-up, and the Australian fielders made no mistake to run out Donald.
As that match was tied, Australia reached the final of that tournament due to finishing ahead in the earlier Super Six stage.
