During the second edition of the Cricket World Cup (1979), the host side England bundled out Canada for just 45 runs (40.3 overs), who were playing only their second game in Cricket World Cup history. For a very long time, it was the lowest completed total in Cricket World Cup history.

Apart from the no.3 batsman Franklyn Dennis, all other Canadian batsmen were dismissed on the single-digit scores. Dennis scored 21 runs off 99 balls with two fours.

Among the England bowlers, Bob Willis (4/11) and Chris Old (4/8) took four wickets each. Also, Mike Hendrick (1/5) and Sir Ian Botham (1/12) shared one wicket each in that innings.

England took 13.5 overs to chase that target after losing two wickets. Opener Geoff Boycott and the no.4 batsman Graham Gooch were not out on 14 and 21 runs respectively.
