ICC ODI Rankings: Shakib Al Hasan Reclaims No 1 All-Rounder Spot, No Indian in Top 10
Former Bangladesh skipper and one of the most important members of Bangladesh, Shakib Al Hasan has again jumped to the top of the Latest ICC ODI Rankings for all-rounders. Despite the emergence of power hitting all-rounders like Hardik Pandya, Vijay Shankar and Ravindra Jadeja, there isn’t a single India in the top 10.
The 32-year all-rounder pocketed the top spot just prior to the 50 overs World Cup. He was in terrific form during the tri-nation series also featuring Ireland and Windies. It was the very first-time Bangladesh won a final of a multi-nation tournament. The Bangladesh players will like to believe that it might be the start of something special.
In the three matches, Shakib scored 140 runs which include a couple of unbeaten fifties. Adding to his batting prowess, the left-arm spinner also bagged a couple of wickets. Now the all-rounder has 359 points which are 20 clear of Afghanistan sensation Rashid Khan. He held the numero uno status previously.
Meanwhile, Mohammad Nabi holds the 3rd position with 319 points. He has been a consistent performer for Afghanistan over the years and will look to do much of the same during the coming World Cup. Meanwhile, Pakistan is the only other team with two players in the Top 10 List. While left-arm spinner and a pinch hitter batsman Imad Wasim occupies the 4th spot while Mohammad Hafeez is at the 7th spot.
There is not a single Indian all-rounder in the list. The best placed Indian player is Kedar Jadhav who has already travelled with the national team to England and Wales for the World Cup. However, his availability will depend on how he shapes up for the warm-up matches. If he isn’t fully fit, the Indian team management wouldn’t risk him in the warm-up matches. Kedar occupies the 12th position along with South African Andile Phehluklwayo and England offie Moeen Ali.
