The United States will reportedly not be stripped of the co-hosting rights for the 2024 T20 World Cup. The 9th edition of the T20 World Cup is scheduled to be held in the West Indies and the US.

For the very first time, the US will host T20 World Cup matches. However, a recent report from a leading news outlet stated that the US have been stripped of the co-hosting rights for the marquee event. The report claimed that West Indies would be the sole hosts for the tournament.

One of the reasons behind the ICC stripping the US of co-hosting the competition was that there is no clarity about who is running the affairs in the board. In the past, ICC banned the US Cricket Federation or allowed another elected body to sustain it.

US to co-host T20 World Cup:

In the recent turn of events, Cricbuzz has reported that the US will continue to remain the joint hosts of the 2024 T20 World Cup along with Cricket West Indies (CWI). The news outlet has also claimed that the matches will be spread across the US and the Caribbean islands with a formula for the distribution of number of games in each country to be finalised.

The matter was discussed at the Chief Executives Meeting (CEC) of the International Cricket Council (ICC) on Saturday. An announcement on the issue could be made after the ongoing meetings of the apex body come to an end on Monday.

After a participant raised the question about US being the joint host for the tournament, the CEC clarified that the country would co-host the T20 World Cup 2024. The body also confirmed that the US will qualify automatically for the competition for being the co-host. The US will be one of the 20 teams participating in the World Cup next year. There will be four groups in the 55-match tournament to be played over 25 days starting in June next year.
