Australia paceman Pat Cummins pips South African speedster Kagiso Rabada in the ICC’s Test rankings for the bowlers to become the No.1 bowler. Cummins settled with 878 points, whereas, Sri Lankan star Kusal Perera takes a big leap to achieve a 40th spot in the batting department.

Interestingly, Cummins becomes the first bowler after legendary Glenn McGrath to lead the charts of the bowlers in the Test fold.

England’s veteran James Anderson has claimed 862 points, as Rabada has slipped to the third spot. He has 849 points to his name, following three wickets in the Durban Test against Sri Lanka.

The 25-year-old bowler Cummins had a spectacular time with the ball as his consistent run with the red-ball has earned him the top spot. He won the Man of the series award for bagging 14 wickets against Sri Lanka.

Earlier, southpaw in Perera was at the 98th spot in the ICC Test rankings for the batsmen. However, his heroic effort of unbeaten 153 off 200 deliveries paid him rich dividends. The left-handed batsman guided the Lions home in an epic one-wicket victory over hosts South Africa at Kingsmead in Durban.

Eventually, Perera defied the odds to smash 78 for the final wicket alongside Vishwa Fernando. The Islanders further lead the two-match Test series 1-0. Fernando also made a considerable gain in the ranks of all-rounder while jumping 23 spots. He now sits at the 95th spot.

The Proteas star Hashim Amla has slipped to 13th position. South African skipper Faf du Plessis is at par with Lanka’s Dimuth Karunaratne at the tenth place.

Moreover, youngster Aiden Markram shares the eighth spot with his teammate and wicketkeeper-batsman Quinton de Kock. Recently, De Kock smashed two consecutive fifties to break into the top ten.

Proteas Duanne Olivier, who had a merry run against Pakistan at home, further improved his ranking against Sri Lanka. He has 666 rating points to his name. Olivier is concurrently ranked No.22 spot. Lankans exciting bowler Fernando broke into top 50 to settle with 49th position.

Fernando had claimed two four-wicket hauls against the Proteas which saw him jumping 26 spots.

However, there were no changes on the list of top 20 all-rounders’ rankings. Windies star Jason Holder is sitting on the top with 439 points to his name.
