While the COVID-19 or coronavirus is continuing its domination in the world, some crucial ICC events have now newly faced the postponement. The International Cricket Council (ICC) has now decided to postpone the upcoming ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup Qualifier and the ICC U19 Cricket World Cup Qualifier Europe Division 2.
According to the initial schedule, Sri Lanka had to host the 2020 ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup Qualifier between 3rd and 19th July 2020. A total of 10 teams would participate in this tournament but the coronavirus has forced to postpone this tournament. The top three teams of this tournament will advance to the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2021 which New Zealand will host from 6th February to 7th March 2021. But as the Qualifier has been postponed and there is no confirmed date to begin of this tournament, the fate of the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2021 is also doubtful.

Five teams (Australia Women, England Women, South Africa Women and India Women), including the hosts New Zealand Women, have directly qualified for the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2021.

West Indies will host the ICC U19 Cricket World Cup 2022 which will be the 14th edition of this tournament. In early this year, Bangladesh U19 won their first U19 CWC trophy after beating the defending champions India U19 in the final of the ICC U19 Cricket World Cup 2020.

Talking about the fate of the postponed ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup Qualifier and ICC U19 Cricket World Cup Qualifier Europe Division 2, the ICC will try to find out the new timeline for these crucial tournaments after their meeting with all the participating members.
