When Indian team finished their innings on a mere score of 169/9 in allotted quota of 50 overs, it looked like the team failed to capitalise on the advantage of winning the toss and fear of losing to Pakistan in an ICC event for the second consecutive time at that moment. But the way Indian bowlers made quick inroads, they showed that it was a tough wicket to bat on and every run made on that track was none less than a big achievement for any batsmen.
Batting first, India could just post a total of 169. They did not have a good start as Smriti Mandhana fell on a score of two but Punam Raut and Deepti Sharma steered the team’s score. They were batting with utmost responsibility and had a complete understanding that track will go slow as the game progress. Riding on a contribution from them and Sushma Verma, team India did a good job and got a number 169 alongside team’s name.
It was a though a low total but was quite difficult when reading the pitch. As expected, it proved to be a steep task for Pakistan batsmen and never in the game, they chased like chasing it. India banked on their spinners right throughout the game. Ekta Bisht was the pick of the slow bowlers as she snared five wickets to flatten Pakistan on a score of 74, leading to a comfortable victory for Indian team by a margin of 95 runs.
With this win, team India registered its third consecutive win in the tournament where it was the third loss for Pakistan.
Twitter praised team Indian for their superlative show against the arch rivals and showed praises on Indian women team. Here are some best of the tweets –
