ICC World Cup 2019: Brian Lara Lauds Technically Sound KL Rahul

Following the untimely injury of Team India’s seasoned campaigner Shikhar Dhawan, KL Rahul will be handed a significant opportunity to bat in a high-octane clash against Pakistan at the Old Trafford in Manchester on Sunday (June 16). However, ahead of the much-awaited clash, the top order batsmen have received a boost from the legendary Windies cricketer Brian Lara, who has heaped praise on KL Rahul.

The right-handed batsman Rahul is himself hopeful to leave an impact against the arch-rivals Pakistan.

Ahead of the high-voltage game, Lara has termed Raul, as the technically gifted batsman.

Meanwhile, it’s expected the light rain will hit the game, but the fans have already made it to the stadium while hoping to witness an enthralling contest between the arch-rivals.

As the game has been already sold out, the jam-packed stadium will witness a new opening partner of Rohit Sharma, Rahul is set to take the guard in Dhawan’s absence.

The Delhi-based batsman may recover fully in 8-10 days. Meanwhile, the Karnataka-based has a mega opportunity after accumulating 37 runs in two games while batting in the middle-order.

The 26-year-old skilled batsman Rahul has himself proved on many occasions. Concurrently, he is one of the gifted batsmen in the Indian fold.

The veteran batsman Lara has expressed disappointment after hairline fracture ruled out Dhawan for at least three weeks. He then added Rahul is the best in business when it comes to the No. 4 position.

He followed it up by saying that Rahul can steady the ship despite the top-order collapse. He advised if the top-order would deliver than Hardik Pandya could be used to get runs at some pace.

“It’s sad to see that Shikhar Dhawan is out with an injury. With him in the team, you had a strong No.4 in K.L Rahul. In my opinion, Rahul is the most technically-gifted batsman in the Indian team. In the event of a top-order collapse, Rahul can repair the damage. If the top-order clicks, you can move Hardik Pandya up to No.4 to get quick runs,” Lara revealed.

Well, ahead of the India vs Pakistan clash, Lara has picked the Men in Blue as favourites for the high-profile encounter. Meanwhile, the weather forecast predicts 60 per cent precipitation during Indo-Pak contest.

“If rain stays away, my money is on India maintaining their winning World Cup record against Pakistan.

Lara reiterated that India is going strong in all its departments. He has also lauded Jasprit Bumrah who has done a remarkable job for India. He added Bhuvneshwar Kumar is exceptional with Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav bringing a lot to the game.

“India is strong in all departments. Jasprit Bumrah is the best limited-overs fast bowler in the world. And Bhuvneshwar Kumar is very good too. And then they have two brilliant spinners in Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav,” Lara stated.

So far, Team India has thrashed Pakistan six times at the World Cup event.
