England captain Eoin Morgan and opener Jason Roy were injured in the first innings against West Indies. Both the players were forced to leave the field over the course of the innings.

Jason Roy and Eoin Morgan will give England fans plenty to worry about. They were injured in innocuous circumstances. Jason Roy hurt his hamstring during the eight over.

He was chasing a ball and suffered the injury. Roy then headed straight to the dressing room. However, the team suffered another setback when skipper Eoin Morgan suffered a back spasm. Morgan was trying to backup from a throw launched from outfield.

The captain was forced to leave the field in the 40th over. But Morgan’s injury seemed to be a harder one for England. The 32-year old struggled to climb the stairs on the way back to dressing room. This has left Ben Stokes baffled on the field as he had his hands on the back on his head.

Former England captain Alastair Cook, on air, said, “Eoin Morgan’s injury looked worse than Jason Roy’s. Roy was able to walk off and up the stairs and Morgan was really struggling. He’s not one to moan either.”

As per ICC regulations, Jason Roy cannot bat in top six after leaving the field early in the innings. However, Eoin Morgan left the field before 28 minutes from the end of innings. So, the southpaw also cannot come into bat until 28 minutes in England’s innings.

But the concerns are much bigger than this match. After dismissing West Indies for a mere 212, England are set to comfortably chase the total down. However, the extent of injuries for both the players remains a mystery.

England are set to play four matches in the next 12 days.

Both of them need to recover quickly as they are vital cogs in this England’s setup.  The hosts are in for a busy schedule over the next two weeks. They will play four games in no time but if Jason Roy, Eoin Morgan set for a injury layoff, it will disturb their team’s balance.

Even though they have the best batting lineup, England will look weaker without the duo. England will next play against Afghanistan on Tuesday. But the fans will hope to see both Jason Roy and Eoin Morgan back in no time.
