ICC World Cup 2019: I Don’t Really Focus on These Things – Virat Kohli on Jofra Archer’s Recent Comment

The skippers of all the ten participating teams met for an interactive session ahead of the first warm-up game ahead of the ICC World Cup 2019. England and Wales will host the tournament which will run from May 30 to July 14. Indian National Cricket Team skipper Virat Kohli while speaking in that conference said that he doesn’t focus on other’s comments when asked about Jofra Archer’s recent comments.

Archer is a world-class bowler: Kohli

Meanwhile, Archer was one of the three cricketers who made it into the final 15 alongside Liam Dawson and James Vince. Unfortunately, David Willey and Joe Denly had to make way for these cricketers. The Barbados-born Jofra Archer made rapid strides playing in various franchise leave across the globe. Also, his excellent efforts for Sussex compelled England and Wales Cricket Board to change their citizenship policy to make Archer available for selection ahead of the World Cup.

Jofra Archer impressed during the recent series against Pakistan to seal his berth for the marquee event. He bowled at 90mph consistently and also impressed with his line and length. His inclusion was on the cards, and rightly so the selectors headed by Ed Smith named him in the final squad. Soon after his selection, Jofra Archer said that he would like to claim the priced wicket of Virat Kohli.

However, Kohli has responded in style that all these comments don’t bother him much. He also said that it is a big compliment for me as Archer is a top-class bowler who has impressed to make a way in the national team.

“That’s news to me, news to Morgs (England skipper Eoin Morgan) as well. I don’t really focus on these things,” Kohli said. “I take a lot of pride in performing well for the team and making a big impact on each game I play, so if Jofra said that it’s a big compliment as he himself is a world-class bowler,” he added.
