Leg-spinning prodigy Rashid Khan had a tough day on the field against England at a belter of Old Trafford’s surface. The prominent face in the world cricket has leaked runs at the recently-held World Cup game on Tuesday in Manchester which led to his criticism on the social media. But Rashid, who draws flak, also saw Iceland Cricket roasting him for his depleted-show against the World No.1 ranked ICC ODI team, the Three Lions.

So much so, Caribbean Premier League (CPL) official handle has also mocked Rashid for his expensive figures in the international cricket.

On June 18, England have registered a clinical 150-run win over Afghanistan after setting up a mammoth target of 398 for inexperienced Afghanistan batting line-up. Eoin Morgan, who blasted 57-ball century played an audacious knock.

The southpaw battered Afghanistan bowlers especially Rashid, who conceded 110 runs in his nine overs. Morgan went on to slam record 17 sixes during his unstoppable innings off 148 which came in just 71 deliveries.

Well, one of the finest bowlers in the world cricket was taken to cleaners by clear favourites the Three Lions on a placid surface. Interestingly, Rashid has given away just 29 runs off first 24 deliveries before the carnage has begun.

Rashid, who mostly bowled short and in Morgan’s zone went on to conceded whopping 81 runs off his last five overs. Thus, it has marked his figures as the worst in World Cup history.
And to add more misery to it, Rashid has also become the first-ever spinner to conceded 100-plus runs in an ODI history. And what appeared on Iceland Cricket’s Twitter account is far more shocking in the name of the creative jibe.

Apart from the nightmare, Rashid has further being trolled across social media platforms. However, amid tough times, Rashid has received full support from English cricketers, in particular, to respond to the opportunists who tried hard to malign Rashid’s image.

“We’ve just heard that Rashid Khan has scored Afghanistan’s first century of the #CWC19! Wow! 110 from 56 balls. The most runs ever scored by a bowler in the World Cup or something. Well batted young man. #ENGvAFG #AFGvENG,” a tweet from Iceland Cricket read.

Cricketers slams Iceland Cricket tweet for disrespecting star leg-spinner, Rashid Khan:

Following the tweet from Iceland Cricket which didn’t sit well with cricketers who leapt in defence of star bowler, Rashid, England’s new recruit Jofra Archer has deemed the tweet as ‘terrible’.

Archer expresses anger in his own way. The Windies-born all-rounder has also featured in that particular game where Rashid ended up on a sad note.

Besides, Luke Wright, Ish Sodhi and Stuart Broad have thrown unconditional support behind the world-class spinner.

Former England batsman Wright has called the tweet as ‘rubbish’. He added one should be respectful towards cricketers irrespective of the circumstances.

Wright also maintained Rashid has done a lot for what happened to be an associate Nation.

New Zealand spinner Ish Sodhi, who has also joined the discussion has echoed Wright’s statement. He has cited Rashid as an inspiration for the leg-spinners across the cricketing globe in contemporary cricket.

The lanky England paceman Broad who slammed the trolls referred Rashid as a ‘world-class bowler’. He further pointed out that everyone goes through such a phase in sport.

Interestingly, Iceland Cricket has extended an apology in a unique way.
