England captain Eoin Morgan is visibly happy after their thumping win against Bangladesh on Saturday. The hosts were ruthless in their approach with both bat and ball as they won the game by 106 runs.
Having asked to bat first, English openers obliged to the task. They went on with their business as usual by putting up a century stand. Jason Roy and Jos Buttler put up a show for the fans on the day.
Roy brought up his maiden world cup hundred before finishing off with 153 to his name. On the other hand, Buttler scored 64 runs from just 44 balls. Bowling all rounders Chris Woakes and Liam Plunkett put on a show at the end to propel England to 386/6.

“I think more positives to take out from the game today. We took a lot of positives from the last game against Pakistan too. We knew we needed to improve in order to win against Bangladesh and we were outstanding with the bat.
“The two boys at the top (openers) laid a solid platform as Jason (Roy) managed to get a significant score. It’s great to see. He’s very intimidating to play against and the impact he has against oppositions is significant. With Jos Buttler coming in and Chris Woakes, Liam Plunkett – all of them contributed.”
England are facing a special task to deal with spinners early on. It is a known fact that both Jason Roy and Jonny Bairstow are uncomfortable with spin early in their innings. However, Eoin Morgan reckons that the batting lineup are up for the task to deal with spinners.

“I think majority of the teams will open with spin against us as it worked in the first game. There’s something always that sides will throw at us. Whether it’s spin, swing, whatever – we are prepared.”
The skipper was also happy with the way the bowlers did their job against Bangladesh. Jofra Archer was particularly impressive with the new ball. He gave England a head start in the second innings after dismissing Soumya Sarkar.
The Bangladesh players never really took off in the chase.
They eventually bundled out for 280 and handed England a massive 106 run victory. It was a collective effort from both batters and bowlers to overcome their disappointing loss against Pakistan.
“With Archer, Wood, Woakes, Stokes in the bowling, it’s outstanding. They’re wonderful to captain and today was no different. It’s an area to work on, it was an improved performance in the field today.”
On the other hand, England were given an injury scare with Jos Buttler suffering hip injury while batting. He did not take the field during Bangladesh batting and Jonny Bairstow took over as wicket keeper in his absence. However, the skipper revealed that the injury is nothing serious.

“No serious concern with Jos (Buttler) at the moment. He didn’t keep as a precautionary measure and will be monitored in the next 48 hours.”
