In the most-awaited game of the ICC World Cup 2019, India once again defeated Pakistan to make it 7-0 at the quadrennial event. Barring Pakistan’s trump card pacer, Mohammad Amir no other bowler showed up to stop the Men in Blue. Pakistan’s skipper Sarfaraz Ahmed, later, pointed out other bowlers’ performance as the reason for their defeat. Amir was seen angrily shaking his head at his teammates after they were left defeated.
Once again Pakistan was left overpowered by India in the 22nd match of the World Cup 2019 on Sunday. However, their lead pacer, Amir shone himself even in the coveted game of the tournament as expected Amir threatened Indian batsmen with his pace attack and scalped the crucial wickets of the rivals. He claimed the wickets of Virat Kohli, MS Dhoni and Hardik Pandya respectively.
After choosing to bowl first, Pakistan aimed to take down India’s top order. But couldn’t possibly do that till the 24th over of the match. They got their first wicket for 136 runs and took out KL Rahul(57), came at the expense of injured Shikhar Dhawan. After another 98-run partnership between Rohit and Virat, once again Wahab Riaz got Rohit (140) down.
From there, the game turned interesting as pacer Amir took it to himself and he picked the next three important wickets of India.
Nonetheless, Amir’s impressive figures of 3/47 runs couldn’t just stop India from crossing the 300-run mark. Pakistan came down with the will to chase the score of 337 runs but gave away their early wickets. Because of rain interruption, Pakistan was given a target of 302 runs with the game being reduced to 40 overs. Thus, the seventh World Cup defeat against India brought forth some heated arguments.
Pakistan journalist posted a tweet of angry Amir walking away from the ground
After facing the disappointing loss, Amir walked away from the ground. The Pakistan journalist Saj Sadiq posted a tweet with Amir’s picture after the match. His tweet said that that the pacer left the field in anger after the 89-run loss.
“Mohammad Amir clearly unhappy with some of his team-mates as he left the field. Lots of head-shaking as he headed towards the dressing-room,” wrote the journalist.
