With India bagging their loss at the ICC World Cup 2019 which came against England on Sunday (June 30), batting coach admitted the fact that paceman Bhuvneshwar Kumar was fit for the game after recovering from the hamstring injury.
The senior fast bowler Bhuvneshwar has picked an injury during bowling against Pakistan at the Old Trafford in Manchester on June 16. Unfortunately, Bhuvneshwar managed to bowl just 2.4 overs before limping off the ground.
In two matches, Bhuvneshwar gave away 95 runs for his five wickets.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar is fit:
The assistant coach also conceded that the ploy of playing two regular spinners didn’t allow them to use Bhuvneshwar Kumar. However, it’s pertinent to point out that the strategy has backfired with Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal conceded 160 in 20 overs.
Jonny Bairstow and Jason Roy plundered runs at will before Ben Stokes quickfire knock of 79 off 54 balls saw England easing past the 300-run mark.
“Bhuvneshwar was fit to play against England as well,” Bangar stated.
However, during India’s game against the Three Lions, the only change came in the form of Rishabh Pant, as Vijay Shankar struggled with a toe injury. Now, the Tamil Nadu-based all-rounder has been ruled out of the World Cup 2019.
Now, India is set to face Bangladesh in less than 20 overs in Birmingham. Team India management will be keen to see their bowlers doing best.
Recently, Mohammad Shami, who’s in the form of his life, has bagged a five-wicket haul. Now, he makes it 13 in three matches since starring with four wickets against Afghanistan.
Expecting a few changes:
Following a 31-run loss, which also saw questions being raised on a slow batting, it’s expected Kedar Jadhav might be sidelined either for Dinesh Karthik or Ravindra Jadeja in the playing XI.
Meanwhile, Bangar also maintained they could go with three seamers as well. Besides, it is subjected to conditions.
On Sunday, India found it difficult to take English bowlers to cleaners. The Men in Blue were chasing a formidable target of 338 runs.
Also, many slammed MS Dhoni’s approach at the fag end of the game when he even denied a single. Consequently, many believed Dhoni’s didn’t try event to go for big shots when the situation demanded.
India, in the end, managed 306 for five in 50 overs.
