England fast bowler who picked an injury during the warm-up fixture against Australia on May 25 at the Ageas Bowlin Southampton, has been cleared of any serious injury. Wood, who clocks at 90 mph, is one of the leading bowlers for the Three Lions with ICC World Cup 2019 beginning on May 30 in London.
The final reports of his scans have witnessed England management heaving a sigh of relief as Wood has received a green signal. Thus he will be available for the Three Lions’ first game at the Kennington Oval when the No. 1 ranked ODI team will face South Africa.
Wood, who is the part of England’s 15-man squad, has been struggling with his left foot. With time, it further generated ankle issues in the recent past. During a warm-up fixture, Wood jarred his foot during his run-up. He subsequently saw himself stopping midway before leaving the field for medical attention.
Wood is set to deliver for England at the main ICC World Cup 2019 event:
Recently, the initial reports revealed there was no major issue. Earlier, he pulled off the game while bowling 3.1 overs for England. Meanwhile, the latest news suggests Wood is free from any injury scare.
Pertinently, Wood will not turn out for the warm-up game against Afghanistan.
However, the management is confident of seeing Wood is available for the selection in the curtain raiser.
As of now, England’s medical team is closely monitoring his condition after showing no sign of injury whatsoever.
In between, England had an injury scare when Eoin Morgan sustained an injury on his index finger before Jofra Archer slid during fielding against Australia at the midwicket boundary.
With England set to begin their World Cup campaign, they’re being deemed as firm favourites. However, the home team is keen to lift their maiden title after making it to the three finals since 1975.
